post operative diverticulitis problems

My boyfriend had emergency diverticulitis surgery on Wed.  He is still in the hospital.  He had some sort of rupture of the colon and they needed to cut out the diseased part of his colon and put a colostomy bag on him for 6-8 weeks.  The first few days went ok but today is not too good.  He is vomiting some sort of dark liquid that is in his abdomen.  He is not eating or drinking anything.  He is on IV fluids, IV antibiotics, pain meds and anti-nausea medication.  Has anyone out there experienced this?  I am so worried about him.  He suffered with nausea and vomiting all day and he is so sleepy, probably from no nutrition.  Any advice would be much appreciated.
