can the prescription drug Tofranil cause liver or kidney damage?

Hi:

This is very unlikely, but, if taken for an extended period of time, or in concert with other medications, it has been shown to have an effect on the liver.

If you are/have been taking it regularly at high doses for a long time, then it may be wise to have a liver function test performed...but it is a RARE side effect.
