proctalgia fugax or not????

almost every case on this website seem to agree that proctalgia fugax is just a fleeting pain that lasts just 5 minutes.

I have proctalgia fugax according to my doctor,  but the pain can last from half an hour to more than an hour. Most noteworthy here, is that the onset of the pain happens only about  one hour after a bowel movement.

Nothing seems to be working for me and I would welcome any suggestions, especially your findings from the most recent research on the subject
                                                thank you.

I too have suffered Proctalgia Fugax, several attacks per year, almost always at night and usually associated with an erection as well.

I am happy to tell you all that I have discovered an immediate cure that always works for me.
It's simple too.

I make a fist, reach around and punch my anus with my knuckles. Good solid punches, enough to send a shock up the colon. I punch at different intervals in order to interrupt the timing of the peristaltic contractions.

I normally punch about 20 -25 times. And that's it. It stops.

Since I discovered this method several years ago, I have been able to stop every attack since.

I sure hope it works for you too.

Good luck,

Jim

If you can get heat to the spasm it will subside immediately. I have had the problem for 10 years and this has never failed.  The only way i know is fairly hot water (NOT SCALDING!)in a fleets enama bottle.

THE CURE!!!   this extreme pain can be alliviated immediately by getting heat to the spasm.  the only way i know is put hot (not scalding!) water in an enema bottle ( get the little disposable fleets bottle).  Relief will come as soon as you do this.  If it was severe it might come back in a minute but just do it again.   Incredible!  Need to get the word out because there are too many suffering this severe pain with no relief.

Sorry to disagree with how long the pain can last, but in those who have proctalgia fugax it can last for many minutes to about 20 minutes or so.

I'm not sure there's any proved or researched method of trying to get rid of it. But in some cases it can be caused by cramping of the pubococcygeus or levator ani muscles, and it's no fun. As screwy as it sounds, you can sometime break it by pressing on an 'area' that's between the anus and the more anterior genital organs - the section that's called the central tendon. You can also try (if you're flexible) a straight-legged bending and touching your toes. It will cause a pull on enough muscles that should result in a stretch that might do the job.

Another method of working the pelvic floor muscles is doing a flat-footed squat - if you can manage the squat with the flat feet, try to then arch your back (butt backward and upward - kind of like when you stroke a cat's back and it arches) a bit and then relax it downward - doing it in 'sets.' It's another way of trying to stretch the muscles.
