I am working with an accupuncturist/herbalist to rebuild my "digestive fire," which is weak at the best of times, having been diagnosed with IBS ten years ago.
For what it's worth, your story does not seem to be unusual, and I would recommend getting some alternative help in building up your digestive system, and go easy on your gut-- look into food combining, food sensitivities (especially wheat and dairy which create a lot of mucous in the gut), and herbs such as ginger, pepper, cardomom, etc. to stimulate digestion. Also, acidophilus and food enzymes might be helpful.
