rebuilding a new stomach

rebuilding a new stomach

Last August My brother-in-law had esophageal cancer. He had the surgery to have it removed. He also had lymph nodes removed. After recovering for 4 days he became septic and had to rushed back to surgery. They found gangrene in his stomach to the extent that the stomach had to be removed. They inserted a feeding tube and also a tube at the top of the esophagus for fluids to empty into. Now a year later the doctor wants him to consider having a stomach rebuilt. Can you offer any info on this procedure or direct me to a site where I might learn something about it.  We were told that it is a long surgery and that he would have to have a clean bill of health before they would consider doing it. His latest tests have had good results. Thank you for your time and any help you can give me so that I can pass it along to my brother-in-law.
