recent gall bladder surgery

by Jean564, May 31, 2008 11:37AM
I had surgery to remove my gall bladder the  laporoscopic way one week ago.....and have terrible ever since---nausea, back pain and all over awful feeling. The surgent  noticed an object that looked like a bubble  (that is what he called it) in the bile duct while doing the surgery.  He said the radiologist also felt it was bubble. But I have been having all the same symptoms as I did before the gall bladder was removed, especially the awful nausea.  When I wake in the morning I am the worst - then last night at about 2 a.m. I woke with terrible nausea and loose stools and was really sick.....I called the doctor in the morning (after suffering all night) and he said to be in an upright position and take mylatia and if this doesn't work go to the ER and he will do an ERCP test.  He feels the bile is accumulating and causing this problem.  I hate going thru another procedure, but I also hate feeling this way also, if there is another stone it would be good to get it out....Is this common to feel this bad if there is one stone in the bile duct????

I too had my GB removed in April and have felt horrible since then.  I developed a bile leak 7 days later and went to the ER.  I had an ERCP and a stent was placed in the main duct.  I have been feeling bad since then but the stent is coming out tomorrow.  The ERCP is really simple.  Just like an upper scope.  They numb your throat and sedate you and they do everything with a tube down the throat.  The only pain I had when I woke up was the bile that was still in my body.  No pain in the throat or esophagus.  I suggest that you have the ERCP to detect a build up.  THe pain will only get worse.  I also had another HIDA scan and that is how they detected the bile leak.  If you have any questions email me.  Good luck.
