recurring pain

recurring pain

I had a colonoscopy about a year ago - where diverticula were noted. (Previous colonoscopy did not show this) After 3 weeks of increasing pain in my lower left side - My doctor did a physical exam check for ovarian cyst and then due to my description and the result from the colonoscopy diagnosed diverticulitis.  I was on a liquid diet for 6 days (taking flagyl and amoxicillan for 10 days) then to low residue for two weeks - then this week I started adding fiber back in.  I have had raisin bran (7 grams fiber ) each morning, and started taking citrucel (I have mild IBS that citrucel has kept in check)
after 3 days of the added fiber - last night the pain started back up in my lower left abdomen -
What do I do?  Should I go back to the doctor - go back to low residue - ????

My mother has diverticulitus and she always gets on and off pain. Even tho she is careful with her diet, no seeds etc, she still never knows when she will get the stomach aches.
She hasn't found a solution yet. I wish I had an answer for your problem.

good luck,
