My son in 2000 was having constant vomiting and weakness and mis diagnosed with H.pylori and given blood and put on losec and iron suppliments. He did not get better and was given further tests and diagnosed with diverticular not sure if meckels is in the diagnoses. the growth perferated before treatment was given and emergency surgery was performed. They told me that it was the size of an orange. He has seemed fine until the last month and has been compaining of stomach aches and has started vomiting again this past week. He has gone from an A-b student and now they are wanting to put him into special classes. My first thoughts when he was vomiting was stoach flu but now that i have been thinking about it maybe he has another diverticuli? could they have missed if there were more? can one grow in the time since his surgery? I can not find much information on this condition for children and it seems to be more prone in older adults. thank you.

I never heard of this, not sure I understand what the diagnosis was. Diverticulosis I thought was little pockets in the intestine that get infected, do you mean one of these pockets was the the growth that was removed? Make sure you ask lots of questions of your son's doctor so you understand what is wrong with him and what the treatment it. I hope he starts feeling better soon so he can get back to his school work! Diverticulosis is chronic I think so it's possible he's having the same problem as before.

yes that right it was the growth that was removed. After his surgery my husband and i asked if this could happen again and the doc said no but from what i have been reading on the internet this is not true...so i am trying to get some information for when i do go to the doctor later today, I am not given the run around as i cannot go to the childrens hospital that did the surgery without having to go to emergency dept first. I would like to go to the GP and run tests first.

Come back and tell us how your son is doing after you see the doctor. It always seems like a run-around when you are sick till you get through all the necessary proceedures in billing and such. Probably going to the doctor before the emergency room is a good start as he can admit him directly to the hospital if need be without having to go through the emergency room. Or when you call for the appointment they can tell you if they think you should go straight to the ER. Hope he starts feeling better soon.
