reverse colostomy

I would like information on surgery for a reverse colostomy.
I had emergency surgery in June for a ruptured diverticula or pouch and the
diseased portion of the sigmoid colon was removed.  If all goes well, I'll have
the reverse procedure done in September.   My question is this:  Will this
be considered a major surgery and what should I expect in terms of post op
healing?

This discussion is related to need answers before colon resection.
