rib pain

I suffer with severe IBS. Lately i had very severe pain which wakes me up every night under my right rib cage at the back, which is very sore too touch and very tender. Sometimes days the pain makes me feel rather nausa and i feel very listless too. I started having the pain after i was digonised with a small kidney, which was due urine infections after having my hysterectomy ten years ago that was when i started getting the pain.   i have been under a specialist who has given me several different tablets which dont seem to be helping me apart from the spasm in my stomach. I have been seeing the consultant since November last year,i dont feel like i am getting anywhere I saw the same speialiast 5-6 years ago, with the same problem, i feel the same now as i did then. Today i saw him and asked about scans on the ribs, he said scans dont show problems underneath the ribs. He keeps saying about refererd pain. but i have to be so careful as i cannot tolerate most drugs as they either make me badly constiped or i get nasty side effects,, eg light headiness and sweats and feel like i am on other planet.  i am concerned please can you help me.
