risk of esophageal cancer and stomach cancer

What are the chances of getting Esophageal cancer after a clear endoscopy 38 months ago, with only a few bouts of reflux since? H. Pylori was negative on biopsy. The only thing on the report of concern to me was "antral gastritis and duodenitis."

"The esophageal lumen was patent and the distal esophagus revealed a normal EG function without ulcerations, stricture, or tumor..................... In the antram there were multiple areas of imflammation and shallow ulceration. Pyloris was patent. Duodenal bulb was also inflamed. Second portion of duodenum was unremarkable. Retroflexion revealed normal cardia." I was negative for Barrett's and dysplasia.

I have been under severe stress lately and my stomach seems to have gone haywire. I'm on 30mg prevacid, and a little mallox before bed,, which I've raised the head of 4inches. I have also had a little dificulty swallowing.

Do I need another endoscopy, or should Ietthe meds run their course and see how I feel.  My primary doctor has not been too concerned about cancer. And when people tell me not to worry, I worry more.

   Hi!
       I won't even pretend to know what all that means on your report.
       Let me just say, the Prevacid doesn't seem to be helping. It sounds like your reflux is back again and once again you are probably burning your throat. That said, here is what my husband does to control his reflux without pharmaceuticals;
       1) He takes a broad spectrum digestive enzyme with each meal, everyday.
       2) He drinks a small glass of aloe vera juice before bed. It soothes your throat and tummy and has enzymes that get rid of excess gas that may cause reflux.
       3) If he feels heartburn or reflux coming on, he pops 2 activated charcoal capsules.
           Works like a natural sponge, soaking up all the nasties.
   These supplements can be found at health stores or specialty vitamin shops.
  He also used to keep a piece of plain white bread next to the bed in case of heartburn. It seems to work well at soaking up the excess acid and gets rid of the gnawing feeling.
        If your throat starts feeling progressively worse instead of better, you may need another endoscopy.
        You can worry all you want, but never stop trying new things til you find the right combination that works for you!

My husband has acid reflux as well, and after a few prescription medications, he found that Prilosec was the only thing that helped him.  You can buy this over-the-counter. Trouble swallowing is part of acid reflux, and before Prilosec, my husband had this really bad.  It would scare him so much that he'd have to get up and walk around because he felt like he was choking.  I bought him the Prilosec and that never happened again.  The inflammation in your throat is due to the stomach acid that is coming up.  You're doing everything right, just switch the meds, because the Prevacid isn't doing it for you.  You may also want to address the stress in your life, which is making this worse, I know...easier said than done.  If there was anything "suspicious" about your endoscopy, they would have persued it.  Switch meds and give your throat and esopahgus some time to heal, and then maybe get another endoscopy for your piece of mind because your worrying about cancer is adding to your stomach problems.
Take care....

     My husband also used Prilosec for two weeks to help his esophagus heal. It worked well, but he didn't want to be on a proton pump inhibitor beyond what was absolutely necessary, so now he goes the natural route. If you haven't already read about ppi's, you may want to just so you can be well informed. I know many people take ppi's everyday, but if you see the possible side effects long term use can bring, they can be quite scary.
