Hi--
Can anyone tell me if weight gain is a common result of gallbladder removal?  I am also curious if it will affect my metabolism. I guess I have a very high metabolism b/c I can eat a lot of junk w/o gaining weight (that's what everyone says, anyway.) Just curious if I will lose this "gift"!  What other changes should I expect? Thanks!!

This gift that you are speaking of, may be exactly what caused your problem.  Just because your are thin...doesn't mean that eating junk food and sugar didn't help cause the stones in the first place. If you do have your gallbladder removed you may want to rethink your diet anyway, because stones call still occur in the ducts long after gallbladder removal.

P.S.  Look up flushing the Gallbladder on your search engine.  I understand there are ways to flush stones.

Hey, I never said I was thin! :) I just don't seem to be the size you'd think for what/as much as I eat. My hus says he'd be the size of a house if he ate like me! THanks for the info. Yes, when I read the classic causes of gallstones, it's me all over the place!

i think so too, rethink about removing your GB there are many ways to get rid of stones read about then please. because removing your GB can cause many problems with someone with good metabolisum. i kn it happen to me , it's hard for me to put weight on and i eat A LOT.. start by eatting lean and healthy. read alternitive health books . good luck

I agree with Flex123.  I would certainly rethink about having your gallbladder removed.  There is medication out there that in time will disolve your gallstones.  The med is called Actigall.  Ask your doctor about this.  I had my gallbladder removed in April 2001 and have problems ever since.  Had an ERCP with sphincterotomy this past Wednesday and ended up with Pancreatitis.  Now they are saying that I might of had pancreatitis from the beginning.  So if you do decide to have your gallbladder removed, then make sure the doctors are certain this is what is causing your problem.  Best of luck to you.
