I have had haiatel hernia for several years. when problem started becoming extreme... sudden onset of my stomach looking like i was 8 months pregnant and terrible shortage of breath that even asthma medication couldn't correct.... i was sent to surgeon and had a Nissan.  Thinking well, stomach in chest cavity... make sense to me  can't breathe.  Well several weeks after surgery problems returned but not as severe but continued getting more severe again as weeks passed.  6 month post surgery Barium GI showed something but they won't tell me what.  Insisted i have an EGD immediately... said everything was cool hernia didn't return but wanted me to go to a major hospital for more tests right away...hmmmm.....and the chest x ray they did after the egd because i guess my recovery was a bit intense.... my doctor called me and insisted i get a high contrast cat scan immediately and scheduled it.  Now....did they screw up my surgery and aren't trying to tell me?  I know something is wrong.  I can't do anything anymore....i have no air to breathe. They are saying i now have an elevated diaphram which i never had before.... and there is a pocket in my esophagus that the bariujm showed...cause i saw that myself.  What would YOU do?  What should I do?  What questions should I ask.  I am not out to sue anyone... but i am barely functional anymore. And I just want up front honest answers... Something is wrong.

What happened?  What did your tests say?  Did you go back into surgery?
Did your wrap slip into your diaphram?

I had a lap nissen wrap surgery in March of 2009.  Since then I have been very bloated, full of gas (sometimes very painful), and cannot belch.  I know that I would not be able to vomit should I get sick.  One week ago I went to a Gastroenterologist who "dialated" the wrap, thinking it was too tight.  It did absolutely NOTHING, and now I am out at least $1500 bcs my deductible had not been met.

Does anyone out  there have any suggestions on what I can do to reduce this horrible bloating and gas?  Can a wrap be UNDONE?

I would NEVER recommend this surgery to anyone.  I much prefered the hernia over this misery!!

Thank you,
Yvette
