I had my gall bladder removed in May of 2008. At my 2 week follow up visit with my surgeon, I mentioned that I was having to run to the bath room soon after eating with diarhea (diarrhea) and gasAdjustable gastric banding Bacterial gastroenteritis Barium enema Blood gases Blood gases test Chagas disease Culture of gastric tissue biopsy Feeding tube insertion - gastrostomy Gas - flatulence Gastrectomy Gastrectomy - series. She told me to wait for 2 or 3 months to see if it cleared up. Well it isn't getting any better. I am wondering why doctors don't tell you what you can expect after having your gall bladder removed and why they tell you to wait for months before prescribing any meds for this problem. I am just wondering whether or not to call my doctor to see if there are any medicines out there for this particular problem. I sure don't want to under go any more tests. Any answers would be welcomed
Alene, I'm not sure why they don't don't mention this can happen, but it may be due to the fact that some people have problems handling the fats in their diet the way they did before surgery. Before you opt for meds, you may want to try following a low fat diet and see if that's of help. The change won't be immediate, but if you carefully watch your diet it may be a big help.
