Obviously your doc should have told you, so call up down there at their offices and ask the nurse to find out those things for you. You have to stay on a soft diet and keep the tube until the doc is good and ready to make a change, which you should have a followup appointment already and automatically scheduled by them (ask when it is) for him to examine the op site, and THAT'S when he'll tell you what you can do differently than what you were told upon discharge
. In other words, there's no set time, because diff people heal at diff rates, and only the doc can determine if you're ready to handle your normal life again.
So, consider yourself an outpatient, treat yourself as a sick person in the interim, and when you see the doc again, you can keep your fingers
, then go back to see the doc sooner than is scheduled.
But usually it's about two or three weeks max after an operation like you've had, that the doc will re-examine you and decide if you're good to go. See, you're still under his care until he releases you, even tho you're home now, so don't be pulling out no tubes or eating a lot of junk food... you don't want bacteria to leak thru the internal stitches and possibly endanger your life.
