sphincter of oddi

sphincter of oddi

I had my sphincter of oddi widened a few years ago because it was narrowed.  I was causing horrible spasms. After it was widened....pain was gone.

My question is this.   Can a sphinter of oddi have to be widened again in time?

Thank you.

Yes. it may have to be worked on again. If you are experiencing symptoms, make sure you check with your doc.

HI, I am trying to see if I have SOD. I only have trouble if I take opiates. Pain is terrible for a few minutes but when the effect of the opiate is gone then I am fine except for some bile salt diarrhea. My guess would be that since I dont have a gallbladder then all the preassure is concetrated at the bile duct and creates the spasm because there is no reservoir and the SOD is shut for a while. However my concern is could it have been pancreatitis? I would assume if it was then the pain would have lasted days and would have been more constant, right? For instance one time I only took half a pill of immodium (opiate), then the pain came for one night and then no more pain. it certainly felt like GB attack but only lasted a day and was induced by the loperamide pill. Any ideas? please help, i am going nuts with this. Cheers
