sphincter of oddi dysfunction (SOD) is it safe to operate on a 73 yr. old?

by coco53, Aug 26, 2008 11:43AM
My mom went into the hospital because her appendix burst. She did not get to the hospital until 6 or 8 hrs. later.  She was given antibiotics for a few days after the appendix was removed since she had an ulceration on her linning.  I have been to visit several times and she is not able to keep food down.  She was being fed through an IV and now they are going to put a tube in her tummy to feed her.  She eats very little if any since it comes right back up.  Her throw up is half greenish color.  The doctors do not know what is wrong with her.  Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my mom?  The throwing up started since her operation.  The pain on her side was there for a few months.

The title of your post is SOD, but SOD is not mentioned in your post. Has she been diagnosed with SOD? And if so, how?
