Hepatic hemangioma in the spleen is not common.
If there continues to be concern about a hemangioma, more comprehensive imaging should be considered. This would include a CT scan or MRI.
Regarding the recommendation for MRI, if the area of concern is not definitive via ultrasound, then it would not be unreasonable for the radiologist to recommend the MRI.
A cyst, abscess, or hematoma can also be considered within the spleen. The MRI should be discussed with your personal physician or in conjunction with a GI evaluation.
