steatorrhea?

Hi..my 14 yr old daughter has had several BM (diarrheat) throughout the day, for the last few weeks. She has lost almost 8 pounds(by my scale). She hardly has any appetite(she wants to eat, takes a few bites and is full). Fatigue, gaunt.
Starting to get a skeletal look. not good.

She has floating stools, sticking to the toilet bowl. Lots of gas.
I took her to the doctor today, they diagnosed her with Strep of the rectum, although, they dont feel
this is the reason for the gastric distress. We need to do stool samples to rule out bacterial problems.

Would steatorrhea still occur if it was indeed a bacterial infection?

Of course, as a mom, I think the worst. Im thinking IBS or Celiac, Malabsorption?

Anyway, just looking for experience I guess. Wont know for a few weeks, but just trying to get some
feedback.

Thanks
