stents,pancreas & CBD

by babocajon, Apr 12, 2009 01:33PM
I just had a 3rd ERCP during which my doctor placed a stent in my pancreas and my common bile duct.   I still developed Pancreatitis but I expected that.
For the past couple of days, I've been experiencing stabbing, spasmatic pain on my left side.  Nothing touches the pain - not Percoset, Levbid etc.  Could this be from the stent in the Pancreas or do you think it's still the "pancreatitis" flaring up again.

HELP!  this has been the most difficult medical journey I've been on in years.

Thanks

well i haven't endured pancreatitis yet (well..maybe chronically I have pain on my left side going to my back chronically and now right upper pain..)

with your problem it might be from back pressure or the stent might be having a difficult time but far left side would be the tail of the pancrease right?  So i'm guessing it's pancreatitis or back pressure WITH pancreatitis.  If it doesn't get better I guess i'd go back to the ERCP person and ask for help :S.  When is your stent coming out?  Did they cut the muscle?  Maybe scar tissue is putting pressure on the stent..and causing back pressure?

I'm going in to my first ERCP and i'm scared to death honestly.. but I have far left pain right now with no stents and no gallbladder.  Something is wrong with my oddi valve i'm guessing :S  Does your pancreatitis always go away normally after a ERCP?

anyway :S hope we both get better, post again what you figure out (you could try an anti-spasmotic to calm your smooth muslces and maybe relax the pancrease?  I dunno..)
