for almost a year now I have had almost daily abdomen pain, Its like a constant burning when it starts , the only relief i have sometimes is to take a prescription pain med , which is only covering up the pain not solving the problems , I have a lot of gas that ive never had in my life . I am a 56 year old male with type II diabetis . I have bowel changes that go from diarea (diarrhea) to normal to small fecal movements.no over the counter meds, gas x or beno anything helps . My dr. has refered me to a gastrologist who over the last 5 months has ran numerous tests (chonlonstopy, upper gi, berinen with injections of dye put in my veins , twice, then cat scan done. ultra sounds everything with no positive results ,,, last week the gastrologist told me he was referring me back to my primary dr. so i could get a second opinion that he was stumped. I asked him do u ever have one like this that u cant diagnose, his reply to me was yes we wait ten years until they die then we find out what was causing the problem. I know that he was only kidding but I dont want to live with this pain anylonger and want to get back to normal life . thanks

Since tests show nothing, could be it's something simple.  If your stool dries up and passes too slowly through your digestive tract, you'll get pain, gas, and irregular bowel movements.  If you've been taking pain meds for something else for a while now, it can constipate you like this.  But you don't have to stop them; just work with them.  That is, increase fiber slowly to your diabetic diet, drink more water, and increase exercise.
