stomach problems

by Shantel27, Mar 10, 2008 01:12PM
I am a 35 year old female with 2 children. I have always had pretty good health, but I have been sick off-and-on since Christmas. Off-and-on since December at night when ready for bed especially, I have felt like I had to throw up. The only other time in my life I have felt this way during my pregnancies. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests, and am definitely not pregnant. About a month ago my friend and I went out to eat Japanese food (which I love and eat often), and as soon as we got in the car, I threw it all up. I didn't throw up any more for a while after that. During the week of Feb. 28th, I was feeling so sick. I had trouble breathing, a fever off and on, my chest hurt. I found out from the doctor that Wed. that I had the flu. Then that Saturday night and all day Sunday (March 2nd) I threw up-at least ten times. I could barely even walk. I am figuring I had the flu and the stomach virus at the same time. However, my stomach still burns a little and for the past few nights I have felt like I had to throw up. I think what scares me the most about this whole thing is that I am sore under my arm pit into my right breast and have felt pain in in breasts. When I saw the dr. for the flu he said that it was probably related to my lymph nodes. This has been lingering on for so long now, I am really beginning to get worried. I would appreciate any insight or advice.
Thanks.

Did your doctor suggest it might be your gallbladder, or take any tests for that?  My first inkling of gallstones was after a dinner out of wonderful abalone at an Oriental restaurant.  I subsequently had my gallbladder removed, but that was many years ago and I understand there are more current treatments available which are less drastic.  As it happened, I learned that both my parents had had gallbladder surgery, and one of my sons has gallbladder trouble, so it might be worthwhile checking out your family's history related to gallbladders as heredity does often seem to have an influence.
