stool culture to test for polyps?

I work in a lab for primary care docs, we are collecting a stool spec. from a pt. one of the tests the doctor has asked for is polyps in the culture. I have never heard of that.

Intestinal polyps may be benign tumors, which are usually adenomas. But intestinal polyps (pseudo polyps) may be also in some intestinal infections. Now you seems to be asked to find bacteria in the stool, which would explain polyps in intestine. Anyway, just ask back, what exactly was it meant.
