My husband is scheduled for a colectomyLarge bowel resection in which his entire right side of his colon will be removed. This seems extreme to us, as the large polyp in the cecum is not cancerous at this point, although it can become cancerous. The surgeon doesn't want to remove just a small part of the colon. He is removing the surrounding lymph glands too.
Has anyone ever had just a small section of the colon removed for this kind of polyp?
The surgeon told us that if he removes only a small portion of the colon, my husband may need more surgery in the future. He told us this is the way to go and that the risk and recoveryRecovery position - series are the same for the completeComplete Complete a-z Complete allergy Complete natal Complete premium Complete senior Complete-rf re-section as they would be with removal of a small portion of the colon.
Any comments or suggestions?
