swallowing problems

by Z, Nov 24, 2001 12:00AM
I have the feeling of a lump inside the back or side of my throat.  The lump sinsation is not always in the same spot. I even feel it when I'm not swallowing. I have experienced my voice tiring while reading out loud to my children in the last 12 months.  I also find that I tire easily.  I am now having burning in the lower portion of my esophacus and what I believe to be acid reflex (while sleeping I wake up choking with liquid in my throat).  I have recently started having back aches and pain in my esophcus and abdominal area.  My primary sent me to have a CT and found thicking around the bottom of my esophacus and saw that my panceas and liver ducks looked swollen (or a little oversized).  My blood work checked out OK, but I now have to wait a month to see a GI.

Do you think all these symptoms could be from one problem?  Do you have any idea of what my problem could be?

I too have been feeling the lump in my throat for the past 2 weeks.  Had an upper GI done a little over two weeks ago, showed normal, but was on aciphex for 4 days before I had that done.  Now, last week, I started with a lump feeling in the back of my throat, two nights of burning pain when laying down, and irregular heart beat.  I think the acid reflux is connected to the irregular heart beat, but unsure.  Seeing a GI on THursday this week, wearing a heart monitor also.  It all seemed to start together.  When I eat, it flutters.  When I feel the lump returning to my throat it flutters.  Very strange.  Was very scared at first, but now that I'm on monitor, I feel not as nervous.  Still taking aciphex, but does must  not be high enough.

Anyone ever have irregular/paliptaitons with acid reflux?

I had trouble swallowing for several months, felt like a lump in my esophagus, very unpleasant. It didn't matter if I was eating or not it was there.
I went to my doctor and he put a scope (unsure of the name of the test) down my throat while under anethesia. He said that i had a shatzi ring and dilated my esophagus. I got relief from that for several months.
This did return along with heartburn and acid reflux and I was experiencing severe pain in my upper abdomen radiating around into my back.  an ultrasound was orederd and I was found to have a stone lodged in my duct and it was causing the dut to dialate and my gall bladder was found to be filled with lots of small stones.
I just had the gall stone removed from the duct along with dilating the esophagus again and the ball in my throat has disappeared.
I will be going in this Friday for the removal of my gallbladder.
I hope this is of help to someone.
Thanks
