symptoms

by Linda__0__0, Jun 02, 1998 12:00AM

I just do not know who to listen to.. an MD or a Naturopath.  The naturopath's (according to books) say that disorders in the body can show up in nail changes; my MD seems unconcerned.  I have a nail change.  Just above the white moon area is a rainbow effect of bluish-purple/white/redish-pink. I have other symptoms also and have found 20+ disorders that contain my main complaints: Malabsorption, PMS, Menopause, Mercury Poisoning (amalgams), ADD, chronic stress, food sensativities, liver disorders...etc. No doubt there are more. With the exception of the nail change, my symptoms do not change.  Is there a way that I can list the symptoms and get some kind of feedback? Something that I can take to my MD to give some ideas of what to look for? Something that he will accept as credible and from a credible source?
  Thank you.

dear Jackie,
A physician will take a complete history and perform a physicial examination prior to deciding what if any tests are required.  Often individual physical findings and/or symptoms do not lead to investigation because the overall gestalt is that there is no serious condition.  If you have a specific concern, you may consider requesting a second opinion to evaluate that specific issue.  Reading texts to obtain a list of all possible conditions that could cause a specific finding or symptom is not helpful to you or your doctor.
