taking antacids

I have been diagnosed with acute gastritis a year ago.  And again this year, I have experienced an attack for the second time and was treated at the hospital.  I took Maalox antacid for the first two days, but the more I take this medicine, the more often my stomach aches.  My doctor said that it may be the medicine - Maalox that causes this pain, so he changed my medicine to geltazine capsule.  Then this month, my son was diagnosed with the same - gastritis.  he is just two years old.  is it possible for a two year kid to have this disease?  he was prescripted with the same medicine- Maalox. but until now, I am not letting him take it because i am worried that his stomach ache will get worse like what happened to me.

Burping, hearburn, burning stomach, early satiety, nausea - you experience anything of this?

The most common cause of acute gastritis is acidic food/aspirins, then food poisoning, and of chronic gastritis H. pylori.

In children the most often is Rotavirus, but this goes with diarrhea (stomach flu).

It is possible that you both have H. pylori, you can have a breath test for it, I'm not sure though.

Telling more symptoms and their relation to meals and sleeping would help.
