tell me about Nissan Fundoplication

No medication, change of diet, yoga exercises and etc do not help with my acid reflux. I am thinking of having Nissan fundo for my GERD. I have been doind some research on it. But on blogs I find mostly negative feedback. Is anyone out there who had this type of surgery  able to enjoy his/her life like (or almost like) before? I need some positive input.

I have the same problem as you plus i have chronic nausea, i too can only find people who say the fundo procedure has made them worse instead of better.
Maybe the people who it works for aren't on the net looking for answers?
My dr and a surgeon both don't want me to have the operation because it could make me worse but i don't know how much longer i can take the nausea, 2 years and counting.

I had it done Jan. 16, 2009.  It isn't an easy procedure.  I have to watch what I eat very carefully yet.  I have lost nearly 20 pounds.  I was huge to begin with.  Most days the acid reflux/hernia is better.  I still have a bit of a cough on some days and some food can cause heart burn too.  I just have to eat very slow and small amounts.  No spicy foods, no wine, chocolate and breads are the 4 big issues. You have to eat very small bites and chew your food completely.   I was able to have it done with only 2 incisions.  For the most part I would say, yes I would do it again.  I am able to sleep without being elevated.  I don't need to take any medication for the heartburn as long as I watch what I eat.  But like I said it isn't a walk in the park, it was a couple of tough weeks recovering and watching what and how much I eat.  Hope that helps.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd make sure you explore all your noninvasive options first.  Once done it can't be undone & the research out there is hazy- some say 60% of operations are successful, others 90%, but none promise permanent cures & some people are better candidates than others.  Other thing- make sure you're surgeon has performed 100s.  Mine only performed 50 & of those I don't even know how many were as a resdient under supervision.  His after-surgery care has proved inadequate which he has acknoweldged by referring me to someone who's more of an expert to handly my post-surgery complications.

i had the operation done about a year ago and the heartburn has only just started to rear it's ugly head, i'm tempted to try refluxremedy.com, has anyone out there got an opinion on this? has anyone tryed it and did it work for you?
