tender incision site six weeks post op

by Siamo Uno, Oct 15, 2007 01:21PM
I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically 6 weeks ago....I have two incisions that are still very tender. The one at the top of my abdomen, and the one in my navel...that one goes from inside my navel to about two inches below it...anyway, it caused quite a bit of discomfort to press on either one....they don't look infected to me from what I can see but I wonder if there could still be an infection of some sort. I just don't think these incisions should still be so tender to the touch...the other two incisions are not tender at all.

It is common, I wouldn't say normal! I had pain and chronic diarrhea for 10 months after my removal, until my dr. put me on - Cholestyramine. I am not trying to sell this med. I am just a real person who had the same real problem you do. I just had it for a long time! Your pain my subside. I would give it a little longer but if it persists I'd go see your Dr. again. Good Luck!

I have the diarrhea problems as well and my dr. did prescribe Cholestyramine for me. I broke out in hives after a couple of doses so I can't take it. She tells me the diarrhea should resolve in time, but from what I have read, sometimes it never goes away.

I had a resection done about two and a half months ago and I still have some tenderness around my incision. The doctor said it can take a full year for you to feel completely normal again. Don't forget, it takes longer to heal on the inside than it does on the outside. I hope you all feel better soon!
