tightly bound bowel won't even blow gas. 5-7days btwn BM Help me Please!

I am 48 w/many health issues but this 1 has plagued me since I was a teen. Can someone tell me why my intestines perhaps my entire digestive system holds on to everything, even gases? They build up creating horrible pain that came become so severe I drop to floor.  Many medications have been tried and only morphine helped. Unfortunately morphine had me so stuck that I needed more & more to deal w/pain. I decided to have a medical detoxification more than 10 years ago.  Since that time I have tried numerous things including massage, fiber, high fluid intake, exercise,  diet, & too many medication changes to remember.  My GI doc has tried linzess, & amatiza. Along with fiber. he just added probiotics & enemas (ms) I generally eould not burp, or pass gas.

So after that lil bit the only thing that seems to allow me to have a bm is lidoderm patches which relax the intestines enough for bm.

Note while it is referred to as chronic constipation because on average I have 1or 2 bm a wk, my stools are soft formed bm just massive. And as long as I do not take constipation meds I do not normally have diarrhea.  I can feel intestines they are tight hard like knotted rope. Often bm will continur for 24 -36hr until bowel seems empty. Though I doubt it is because I eat regularly since I was just diagnosed with diabetes.

Why does it take a sedative to have bowel movements? Sometimes it's likr the sedative relaxes the intestines and the overstuffed bowel is emptied just because it is so full &eitjout the muscles holding the stool in the stool pushes its way out. But by the time 3 or 4 days have passed I am doubled over in pain from being so bound & then unable to pass gas. Baby gas drops are my only help with the gas but the gas pressure seems to promote the defecation (ms). So trying to cut down on gas means waiting as long as 7 or 8 days for bm. My lower back & hips are so painfil to move & taking pain killers adds to the delayed bm!

I have had every test cat scans, mri, barium enema,  endoscopy, colonoscopy, hydascan....they found 2 benign polyps in valves they say everything was fine.

The thing I notice most is relux both acid & bile at different times but very distinct.  I took protonix for yrs but bile reflux & nighttime reflux created need for change to dexilant. It works well for reflux but my bm are further apart it. My gas pain & abdominal pain in general are so much worse. If my stomach isn't distended then my low back & hips are suffering so much I can hardly walk. I even anesthesialogist burn sensory nerve tissues to reduce pain but when it has been 5, 6, 7, days eith no bm I must say it's a wonder nothing has ruptured.

I hope there is someone who knows what I am going though. Maybe even someone who may know what why or how I can fix this. Probiotics seem to be making it worse.  I am so miserable & my doctors are just shuffling me around because they do not know what to do or why it is happening.

I have allergy to artificial  sugars all types. I have a sensativity to oranges & bananas. No food allergies were found when I was tested though. My body has an odd response if I injest something containing bananas or oranges so I try to avoid them.

Help I have run out of ideas!

I 2nd the Miralax recommendation. Used just about everything before but this seems to be the best approach for me. Same deal: chronic constipation, 1 to 2 bm per week (if I was lucky), enormous amounst when I went - even felt like I had barely done anything and needed to go more, but clearly had in a very large way. Mine is caused by chronic bile flow obstruction and probable reduced colon mobility due to autoimmune disease. Good luck.

I have similar problems, but thankfully some things have worked for me.  I use Amitiza and Miralax and I take magnesium citrate 500 mg every morning.

Magnesium deficiency is a rampant problem, so I strongly suggest you try it.  If you take calcium, take about 400 mg at night and do not take them together at the same time.  You are also likely deficient in vitamin D.  I take 2000 IU at night.

Yoga type exercises and yard work with lifting and carrying, pushing a wheelbarrow are helpful for me.  With yoga, make sure you try side bends and all sorts of bending forward and backward.  Pilates may be good.  I have a spot that I can press in my side right under my ribs on the left side where I press in a vibrating way and it seems to let the gas through at times, but honestly the Amitiza seems to target the gas for me, thankfully.  I have heard some people find a warm bath helps, and if you soak in Epsom salts you can get a jolt of magnesium that way quickly.
