My 19 year old son has been sick for fourteen days now with diarrhea, fever sometimes up to 103.6, chills, night sweats, and lower right quadrant pain. After 9 days a CT scan was performed and showed thickening at the terminal ileum and extending toward the ileocecal valve. Trace amounts of free fluid present in pelvis with mildly enlarged lympth nodes noted in right lower quadrant. He also had some pain in this area. Yesterday he had a colonscopy which revealed a bleeding area and thickening at the cecum. What could all of this mean? He no longer has the pain and fever, but some diarrhea, loss of appetite, and has had an 8 lb. weight loss over these last fourteen days.
