Hello. I am 43 y.o. white femaile. I have had unexplained abdominal pain for 4 years. The pain is chronic, wakes me up at night, and diffuse over my abdomen with some point tenderness in the epigastric, RLQ and LLQ areas. On top of this chronic pain, I have episodes of intensifed abdominal pain associated with anorexia
, profuse watery diarrhea, and weight loss- these episodes occur every 2-3 months and last for approximately 2 weeks at a time. During these episodes I have no appetite and eating intensifies the pain. Over the past 4 years I have lost almost 15 lbs (I started at 140 lbs, I am 5'7"). I have been a life long athlete
7, stool culture-- all are normal. I have a "slightly" positive ANA 1:40+. During one of these episodes I had a fecal WBC of 30-40, no occult blood (even though I thought I saw blood in the bowl).
My past medical history is positive for seizures of unknown origin, started post pregnancy and peripheral neuropathy of unknown origin. I currently take Kepra and Lyrica for these conditions.
I have no history of trauma, abuse, illicit drug use. I am a non smoker, happily married with one child. My only surgical history is + for C-section.
Any suggestions for what I may do next to discover what it is that is causing my pain and for potential treatments would be greatly appreciated. I really do not believe that this is merely irritable bowel-- furthermore I have tried in good faith all the recommend IBS treatments-- nothing helps.
After many different gynelogical and intestinal surgeries I've been diagnosed with abdominal wall pain. Apparently it can be caused by a previous surgery or can be due to myofascial pain of which I suffer elsewhere in my body due to fibromyalgia and likely Lupus. Nothing they can do and I find massage does help. You might want to talk to your doctor about that or the IBS.
