upper GI , small bowel test

I recently had an upper GI small bowel series test and the doctor told me that it did not show Chrones disease. However, he did say the travel time for the Barium was unusually quick. It took 30 min. He said that that was unusually fast. What does this mean. I have to go for more tests this week. VIP test, CBC, 24 hr. urine and fasting gastrin. He said I may also have a bacterial problem in my intestines.  Do you know why it would take the travel time to be quick like that? I am concerned and need answers.

I recently had this test done as well and mine went rather quickly. I think it was just at 35-40 minutes and they did not mention anything about it being too quick.

Good luck and hope that you get some answers soon!

As far as I know when I had mine done 30 minutes isn't like super fast. Mine was 40 minutes I believe. What did you have the test done for? Symptoms wise. That would help a lot.

If you find food still undigested in your stool, this would be the main reason he would be concerned. This would mean you are not digesting all the food and it "passes" straight through you. Bacteria in the stomach can cause this among other things. You be be malabsorbing minerals/vitamins and probably would feel fatigued all the time. The CBC and 24 hour urine test should show the mal absorbtion which I'm sure he is looking for.
