upper back pain

i recently been experiencing upper pain in the shoulder area on my right side of my back.  As days go by, it increasingly gets worse as if it is slowly moving up my neck area, making it hard to turn my head, and when I breath deep it hurts a little also.  It is painful.  The pain in mostly in the upper shoulder or the more intense pain that is. During this time i seem to burp little burps relieving it little bit and it builds right back.  I have drank carbonated beverages making me burp but it is only temporary relief.  What is causing this?  This has periodically happen several times and it seems like it is always on the upper right side.

Hello, sorry to hear about your back pain.  I had upper back pain that ended up radiating down my arm and back and forth.  I thought everyone would think I had gone crazy stating that the pain traveled.  Also I had burning sensations and tingling.  Turned out to be a pinched nerve in my neck C6&C7.  When this happens there are tiny nerves that go down your back and down your arms.  depending on which nerver produces the different locations of pain.  Usually a tingling and burning sensation are examples of nerve problems.  I suggest a MRI of your neck and spine.  In the mean time, you could alternate between ibuprophen and aleeve.  Take the maximum amount allowed unless you are allergic.  This helped me tremendously and I have not yet had to have surgery.  There are also different types of pain medications.  Some types do not work with nerves so you might suggest this to your doctor for consideration.  Goodluck to you and ask God to help.
