upper right quadrant pain

i have a pain in my upper right quadrant, it feels like right below my ribs. and when i get this pain it's usually right after eating or especially when its really greasy foods. now i've been having these pains off and on for a while, almost a year. and when it gets too uncomfortable at times, i massage the area, which relieves it alittle, but never completely goes away. when i feel around, i've noticed little lumps, and when i apply pressure, it pains right on the lump. what coould this be?+

Sounds like gallbladder to me! It probably helps when you massage it because you are helping it contract. My advice is go get an ultra sound and a hydascan to see if you have any stones and to see how well it is functioning. And I definitely agree with CalGal, cut back on the fatty foods, it will help tremendously!

The combination of the pain in the upper right quadrant and the fact that it's happening after you eat fatty foods could suggest that you may be starting to experience some problems with your gallbladder. I'd suggest you check with your doc and meanwhile you may want to consider cutting way down on fatty/greasy foods.
