viral gastroenteritis resurfacing?

my doctor diagnosed me with viral gastroenteritis around 8 days ago. that's when severe abdominal pain started and moderate diarrhea followed. The pain was generally managed with antispasmodics (buscopan plus). I went on a bland diet and my stool exams came out negative. Things were getting better for a while. the frequency and intervals were getting lesser and longer. intensity was also dying down until there was a time during my 6th day i stopped taking my medicine. on the 7th day, i didnt bother taking my meds because the pain was next to negligible to the point of mild discomfort. Now, I'm on my 8th day and suddenly, the pain resurfaces. It's not all out pain like the first few times, but it's more painful than my 7th day pain. I'm being considered for admission in the next 2 days if things don't clear up by then. So, i'm just anxious. Is it normal for viral gastroenteritis to just die down and suddenly resurface again during the course? I still didnt take any medicine since my 6th day so that i could monitor the pain.
