I'v been diagnosed with pbc 8 months ago and am now on ursodiol. Since taking this medication I have lost 15 lbs, I've been on medication for approx. 7 months, I'm wondering if weight loss is normal on this med.,, this is only med I take. Since dx I have changed my diet and no longer eat refined sugar or processed foods,,well have drastically reduced both. I am 5'0 and now weigh 97lbs.
Ursodiol does not cause weight changes though a few patients do report weight gain. The medication may be used in patients undergoing weight loss by other means such as diet changes etc. to prevent formation of gall stones.
Hope the information is helpful.
