what is the cause of a prominent bile duct and pancreatic duct

Is it ok to assume that a prominent common bile duct and a prominent pancreatic duct present in the region of the body, is due to post surgical changes (had gallbladder out Jan '09) This was found on a complete abdominal ultrasound. But the pancreas was "difficult to visualize due to overlying bowel gas" I have had pain deep on my right side under my rib cage for a few months now, but really didn't take a lot of stock in it until recently it is getting worse. My blood tests came back normal, no elevated billirubin. Should i assume its because of the gallbladder being taken out?
