what to do next

I had my gallbladder out about a year and a half ago.Just a few weeks ago I had sharp pain under my ribcage where my gallbladder was, went to my family doctor and he sent me for a ct scan. It showed no problems, but they said there was a surgical clip that had come loose and is now in my pelvic area (left side) It now is hurting, especially when I stand for long periods of time, (my job is standing all the time) My doctor told me it was no big deal, but I'm not so sure. Im afraid that my body will naturally try to attack it,and that could cause problems in the future. The clip is also broken! so my questions are, Is this clip safe to have just floating around in my body? Should I get another opinion? Has anyone else had this happen, and what was their outcome?

What the body typically does is 'wall off' stray structures. Over a period of time, the clip will probably be surrounded by the tissues around it, and it will provoke the growth of more tissue around it.

In the meantime, it may or may not cause discomfort.

A lot of people have the clip from their gallbladder surgery move around. Most people never even know they're there.
