white flat-ish strands in stool

yesterday afternoon, i felt moderate pain in my stomach, and then had several small bouts of diarrhea. during the first time, i saw some white flat strands, about 8inches long, in my stool that looked alarmingly like worms. i've never noticed anything like them before...
i've noticed some other symptoms in the past week that match with symptoms of a intestinal worms: constipation (pretty mild though), diarrhea, bloated stomach, and restlessness (especially last night).

should i go see my doctor about this?
i'm afraid i'm being a hypochondriac about this since i'm usually pretty careful about washing my hands before i eat... i usually wash plus use hand sanitizer. and i haven't eaten at any potentially unclean restaurants. and i hate anything raw so i always cook my food.
any ideas?

Hi, my name is Kristen.  I had some white, flat strands in my bowel movement that were a couple inches long.  I  too thought that it was a worm. I went to the doctor and they did a worm/parasite stool sample test.  The results came out negative for any worm or parasite.  I asked my doctor what it could be and she said that it might be pieces of my intestine.  This was kind of alarming, but my doctor assured me that it was normal.  Maybe you should have a stool sample test done, just to make sure.
