will IM turn into Cancer?

. I have a lot of pain in my stomac and have to constantly eat something to stop the pain and therefore gained 15 ponds/.Last year I was tested for cancer, H pilory and IM and they told me that I have Intestenal Metaplasia (IM). I am not really sure how serious this is because they did not give me any medications. one doctor told me that in China who ever has this, will take their stomac out because it may turn into cancer. So my questions are:
what are symptoms of IM?
What should I take to stop the pain.?
Will this turn into Cancer?
