will taking Protonix help in gallbladder

I have right quandrant pain and had an ultrasound of liver, gallbladder, spleen, etc. Came out negative but I still have pain Dr prescribed Protonix 2 x daily  Does this help the gallbladder.  I thought it was for GERD

I have the same issue. Had ultrasound and found nothing. Had a HIDA Scan and only thing they found was the "dispersal" of the bile was not normal. It did empty but nothing. Not sure its the Protonics. I try to stay on it only a month then I switch to 4 Pepcid then 3 then 2. PPI's cause Kidney failure so try not to use it anymore than you have to.

You need to get a HIDA scan. I had a negative ultra sound in the emergency room and assumed I was fine. Same symptoms as you. Then I ignored the pain and thought it was in my head for months. My Gastro ordered a hida scan and my gallbladder only functions at 5 percent. I wish I had asked more questions sooner.

It is for GERD. Your doc is assuming that the symptoms you're having are due to acid reflux and is treating you for that.
