worsened esophagitis

worsened esophagitis

i have mild esophagitis and erosive gastritis and was prescribed zurcazol 40mg.

i am very careful with diet etc... but my dentist prescribed VIBRAMYCIN for 4 days
and although i informed him of my problems he claimed diluting them in water won't harm me.

but since yday ( i finished) my antibiotics and i have been having terrible heartburn .

i phoned my gi doc and he said basically my dentist was an idiot and that
it was the pills that worsened me. he said i should double my dose of pantoprazol for
2-3 days.

question : i am very worried these 2 days have caused irreversible damage to my condition.
i am very worried about esoph cancer . i feel so stupid and so let down.

do y think i am at risk of esoph cancer. it was already in the back of my mind before the
vibramyicin now that this happened i am very very worried.

any input wld be very appreciated.

also PLEASE TALK TO A GI BEFORE TAKING ANYTHING if you have these conditions.

A few days of increased discomfort is not going to raise your risk of esophageal cancer to any large degree if you've been doing everything you should as far as medication and diet, etc. Tamp things down with the meds, and relax a bit so your stress hormone levels don't do more harm that the antibiotics. It typically takes quite awhile of fairly constant exposure of acid in the esophagus to go toward a cancerous state.
