Acid reflux?

OK, so for awhile I had a very stressful and scary period where it felt like my throat was closing, constantly. It was terrifying and several doctors told me they couldn't find a problem, although no real tests were done. Then I saw an ear nose and throat doctor who felt around and came to the assumption (again, with no tests) that I had acid reflux. He gave me some prilosec otc and I took it for about a month with no changes at all. Nothing fixes it. No matter what I eat or stop eating, whether I take the medicine consistently or not... I even tried the prilosec a seconds time after a break from it for another 2 weeks or so, again no effect. Lately I have been getting the acid burps and sometimes upset stomach associated with acid reflux, but oddly all after trying the medication. Before I saw the doctor Id experienced none of the symptoms associated with acid reflux whatsoever, except the throat swelling. My question is this: has anyone else experienced acid reflux with little to no symptoms except what feels like a swelling throat? Are there medications that actually work? Could it be a throat ulcer? Other pertinent information: the throat symptom happened all at once. One day I was fine, the next I wasn't and haven't been since. I'm probably underweight, 6' 155 lbs. Always been able to eat whatever I want, and I eat a lot but I've always been that way with no complications. I drink coffee a lot. I'm 28, male. Symptoms have been ongoing for about 3-4 months. Thanks in advance.

I agree with the top two posters. I have severe acid reflux (gerd) that they found with an endoscopy from a gastroenterologist.  It could be a hernia, or also a stomach bacteria called h pylori which often has not symptoms exceots for an upset stomach. Good luck

The above poster is right, you need to see a specialist. It could also be due to a hiatal hernia, they can sometimes cause the symptoms you are having.

Two thoughts! I would first see an allergist and get tested. If that doesn't help then see a gastroenterologist.
