Anti Biotics & Excersize

Hi, I am on my second day of a 5 day course of Ketek 400mg (Taking 800mg) . Tomorrow will be my third day. I had an upper respiratory infection but feel MUCH better. I want to go back to Gym tomorrow (Crossfit) i will only take my anti biotic after the session. Is this ok? Hope to get some peace of mind :)

Although you are feeling much better, you still have the infection.

It is very important that you take the antibiotic as prescribed following the directions how to take it.

When the body is fighting an infection, it needs rest to help get over the infection quicker.  Not only will you delay recovery, you will also be spreading your bacteria to other people.

I would suggest that if you decide to go to the gym, that you only do gentle exercise and not the full whack that you do when you are feeling well.  Do bear in mind that gym equipment harbours bacteria, so do wash the handle bars before you use any equipment and wash your hands thorough afterwards.

What did the doctor advise you?  You do not need to answer that.

Personally, I would wait until you are completely well again, or until you have one day left of the antibiotic.  Do remember that even if you do feel better, do finish the course.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Exercise should not make any significant difference in the course of the infection. Just maintain the recommended interval between doses of the antibiotic.
