Back and Neck Pain / Trouble Walking / HELP!

This is beggining to effect my life as I can't even manage to walk to work or anything. Please help me!

I have been trying to contact my doctor for weeks. =/ I should go to another but I have other issues (such as thyroid) to work out with her in particular.

It began about 3 months ago. I was walking home and suddenly (but not dramatically) noticed a pain. It was annoying, but I could walk and bare it. It got worse over the week so I saw a doctor who felt around and said things seemed fine.

He suggested it could be my posture, or the fact that I was carrying extra weight. I've asked for a diet plan and if anyone has any ideas on good exersises for posture I'd love to hear them.

But within the last month It has come back stronger, and it hurts. I can't walk more than 200 metres without being in agony. It begins in my lower back/hip area and when I sit down after it'll move up to my upper back. It feels like a numb and lasting pain rather than anything sharp.

Also, when I have done something to hurt it for hours after my neck will hurt or begin to hurt. My neck also gets cramps and stiffness recently. (Especailly when I yawn.) This may not be the most painful part but it is the scariest, because sometimes I'm too scared to turn my head.

My general movement is now being effected. I can't get comfortable in bed, I can't lift my legs to even tie my laces without pain.

I'm 20. I'm overweight, but I wouldn't say I was severly overweight, I've never had problems like this before. I have, however, been prone to sitting at my PC rather than being active for long periods of time.

I took a shower today and after 20 minutes of simply STANDING UP I was in pain.

I am scared that if I keep going (or maybe already) I could have done some permenant damage. Is this possible or would I have known about it?

Please help me.

What "thyroid issues" are you working out with your doctor? A lot of what you are describing can be associated with thyroid problems. I would suggest posting this in the thyroid forum and seeing what they have to say. I also have hashimoto's and am getting checked for a range of other autoimmune disorders, plus have lower back/nerve problems. Hope you find the answers you are looking for. Best of luck to you.

I have an underactive thyroid and have had medication issues lately, so I haven't been taking my medication for a month or two.

I had no idea it could effect me this much? If it is that.

Thank you for the idea.

You could have fibromyalgia, ask for an epstein barr blood test, this will show if you do.

Also, you could very very well have some misplace vertebrae and they can be pressing on some nerves, if this is the case, no drug will help, just chiropractic treaments. From your description, I would say this is the case.

Thank you.

Right now, I mean just now, just under my mouth/jaw seized up and it was so painful. I was terrified to move it incase it got worse but my partner made me take a pain killer.

I'm so scared.

I don't know about the jaw seizing up but here is a link that may help you. It is a checklist for autoimmune diseases. There are many things that can go wrong with them and this list helps narrow some things down. http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/autoimmune-checklist.htm  Hope this helps some. Best wishes.

Thank you very much.

I have spoken to my doctor today and my medication (Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism) has been all over the place. There has been periods where I have not taken it right and I just haven';t realized how inportant it is/thought it gave me headaches and migranes (migraines).

She said that I should take it properly for a few weeks and see if it improves before she investigates further because she was had a man who was the same and it effected all of his muscles terribley.

It's scary what pills can do... But hopefully I found an answer...?

Does this sound right to you?

Thank you.
