Black/Green scar pigmentation in both of my retinas

Im 25 years old.  I recently went to costco to get new prescriptions for my contacts.   I have been wearing glasses since i was in elementary school and contact since middle school.  I have a very high astigmatism in both eyes and is nearsighted.  When i went to get my ... [More] eye check for contact i got a dialtion done (for the first time) and the dr. said she see's black/green pigments in the middle of my retina near the macula but thank go not in the macula. she said she was a little concern because it is in both of my eyes and towards the middle of the retina.  She asked if i had any surgery or been to mississippi before and the answer was no.  She also said it kinda looks like scars that seem to have been there for awhile and referred me to a retinal specialist.  I dont have insurance and she said i can wait as long as i dont start seeing any flashes and extreme floaters, If so i have to go to the retinal specialist right away.  I am FREAKING OUT and cant sleep at night.  I have been researching and googling numerous possibilities and getting really reallly worried.  Also with my glassses/contacts i see perfectly well. I am so sorry your having problems with your vision.  I am not going to be much help as a nurse since I am an OB nurse, but I do have very bad vision including macular degeration, optic neuritis, etc.  But here is my question for you.  What on earth has coming to Mississippi have to do with anything????  I need to know seeing that I am a Mississippian!!!!  By the way, the retina specialist specializes in eyeball torture!!  Didn't know my eyes could be violated in so many different ways until I saw one!!  Wasn't to bad though.  They numb your eyes.  Just a very thorough eye exam!!

In my opinion, I would not wait until I was seeing extreme floaters and flashes.

I would not "freak out" yet.  Try to get in to see this specialist.
