Blackouts and Increased Intracranical Pressure

Hi doctors, I am writing on behalf of my sister. She is 26 years old and describes her case as the following.

One year back, my BP shoot up to 90/180 and 80/160 which gradually settled down itself without medication, in due course i once vomited blood also.
Last October 2014, got operated for lipoma and doc took sample for biopsy, the report was all clear.

In June 2015, i woke up one night having severe pain in the neck and high fever, lost vision completely that time for almost 30 seconds and i was unable to move my body for few seconds then after extreme sweating , fever gone . The very next day, felt the same pain in the neck alongwith fever (103) that too after sweating.

In July 2015, vision started to get blurred and sometimes loss of vision for few seconds when i wake up after sleep. Then gradually headache started, head started to spin and it was that severe that once i fell from the stairs. Also felt numbness in brain in some areas just for few seconds. The attacks of loss of vision are very frequent now. Sound irritates me and also there are some behavioral changes like losing temper time and again. From last 8,9 months i feel as if i am no longer a good decision maker which i used to be, i get confused in taking decisions.

In my ear, i felt as if there is something in my ear which is disturbing me and feeling a weird sound.
Sometimes i lose vision completely, and sometimes the edges of the vision darken and central scene is clear.

Went to eye specialist, got OCT done, report is attached.
Neurologist says its Increased Intracranial Pressure and suggested lumbar puncture to check pressure levels , but i refused that so he prescribed some medicine but eye specialist suggested me not to take the medicine before lumbar puncture.

On the front side of the head, there is a small swelling but it is hard, report of CT scan shows that it is not tumor. MRI is not possible because of my teeth braces.
Sugar level is normal, BP is usually normal except for 2, 3 times in which it was high.  There is one more thing when i was tensed, vision loss became frequent. From last six months, almost 30% of my hairs turned white. Having shortsightedness with -2.25. Plus i never took painkiller or steroids.

Can you please help with this?

Hello,

I would have the lumbar puncture done to rule out anything serious.

I also would see a chiropractor as a lot of her symptoms suggest pinched nerves in her neck due to misplaced vertebrae. He will do an x-ray and that will tell him exactly what is going on in that region. Many have helped patients with similar conditions that you have described. As the above poster also shared, a good acupuncturist, would probably be helpful, I would see one in conjunction with the chiropractor visit.

Hi sorry to hear of your situation. I don't pretend to have any idea what is going on with you medically. However in Tradtional Chinese Medicine the white hair and the hearing issues are related to kidney deficiency ( not the same way we think of kidney) also in TCM they are the batteries, so that might be at least part of the problem. They've been doing this medicine for thousands of years and we practice it almost exclusively. I would suggest seeing an acupuncturist and hopefully one who is also an herbalist AS WELL as following up with your doctor. GOOD LUCK!!
