Blood in stool

I recently became sick with diarrhea and abdominal pain. During this time I noticed blood in my stool and went to a clinic. I had blood work done and gave a stool sample. These tests have since come back within normal ranges and I feel well again with no signs of blood in my stool now. I am a 37 year old female with no previous history of blood in my stool. Also, there was no pain in the rectum area or straining during bowel movements. The blood in my stool scared me. Should I go back to the doctor to ask for a scope or does this happen sometimes when one is sick?

I have had chronic constipation for most of my 68 years of life. This is due to my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Your question should be directed to your MD. Write down all of your symptoms and give your personal report of your symptoms to your MD and be ready to answer his/her questions. Do not try to self diagnose. Sometimes, I bleed, too. That is when I am dehydrated and eat too much fiber. Drink water instead of coffee, tea, and sodas. Your colon needs water to keep the feces soft enough to pass easily.
