Bloody stool & gas???? Please help

I've experiencing stomach problems for the last few days and i'm pretty sure it's not normal:

Blood in stool (happened 2 days ago & only happened once so far)
Constant gas that literally smells like rotten eggs (THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR ME)

I did start my period today and I know that stomach problems usually occur during that time of the month (bloating, diarrhea, cramps, etc.) but this isn't normal for me. I freaked out especially when I say the blood in my stool. What can this be? Should I be concerned about this? I'm going to the doctor on Weds

In my case I had those exact symptoms when my ulcerative colitis was just starting, and unfortunately for me it gets more pronounced around ovulation and menstruation.

In my thoughts, if there is ever bleeding coming from somewhere that it's not normally coming from its always best to have it checked out. Best of luck!

If you have fresh blood when you wipe your bottom, this is usually from a hemarroid, caused by straining, or from diarrhia aggravating the anal passage.

Dark blood using is a sign of bleeding from further up.

With the constant smelly gas, it sounds like you have eaten something that has not agreed with you.

If your symptoms do not settle down in a few days time, and the anal bleeding continues, then get checked out by the doctor.  Although in most cases bleeding from the rectum can be from hemaroids or non malignant polyps (these usually have to be removed as they may become cancerous), it is always better to get bowel irregularities checked out.

Hi -

From my experience, blood in the stool as well as the gas typically points to signs of Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and when not treated effectively, I have blood and mucus in my stool along with burning rotten smelling gas. I would keep an eye on it and should it persist, or you start going to the bathroom more frequently, make an appointment with a GI doctor. Don't let it go for long!
